Chandni is a wealthy, educated girl from Delhi who lives with her widowed mother, Pushpa. In London for a business trip, Chandni meets Veer Pratap Singh who also happens to be in town for work. They share a few dance moves on the dance floor and exchange numbers. Upon their return back to India, Chandni and Veer fall in love but seem unable to express their feelings due to conflicting ideologies and lifestyles. A series of misunderstandings leads them apart but love prevails when they reunite after many years under unexpected circumstances This is the story of two people who find themselves falling in love with each other even through all odds against them. This is the story of Veer Pratap Singh, a man who has always had two identities. He is the son of Rama Pratap Singh, who is not really his father but was adopted at birth. He is determined to be himself and live life on his own terms. He marries Meha, a beautiful girl who wants to live in solitude and remain independent of people around her. But their marriage does not work out because it is difficult for them to cope with each other's lives. Veer Pratap Singh grows disillusioned with Meha's temperament, especially when he notices that she closely follows her mother's footsteps in the way of independence. He decides to move out of the house to start another life with someone who will be more understanding and accommodating. Into Veer Pratap Singh's life steps Chandni Chowdhry, who is Veer's diametric opposite. Chandni is a sweet, intelligent girl whose world view has been shaped by her mother. She follows the advice of her mother in every way possible and has complete faith in her guidance. She not once steps out of line or thinks of doing anything on her own even though she is mature enough for it. She dreams of settling down with a man who can understand her dreamy ways; one who will appreciate these qualities in her and reciprocate them in his love for her. Veer Pratap Singh is exactly the kind of man she has been looking for, but her maturity does not allow her to realise it. Veer Pratap Singh comes across as a much more attractive man than Meha to Chandni, who cannot help but fall in love with him. Meha is shocked when she finally understands that Veer has moved out of the house because he has fallen in love with someone else. She unexpectedly loves this development and decides to move out of their house. At last she is able to make her own decisions without any interference from anyone else. Since Veer Pratap doesn't want to lose an accomplished career woman like Meha, he marries Chandni instead. In the end, Veer Pratap Singh and Chandni Chowdhry realise that they have been looking for each other all this while. The film was produced by Manmohan Shetty, producer of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Dilruba", and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It is a remake of a 1990 Tamil film "Muthu", starring Vijayakanth in the lead role. cfa1e77820
